When I came to The Studio (MDR), my goal was to get back in shape. I have always been a very active person -- my weight rarely fluctuated -- and I have never really been out of shape until last year. I gained about 10 pounds even though I ran two to three times a week. What made me realize I needed to change something was a picture that was taken of me running a ½ marathon. In the picture my arms were out of shape, my legs had no shape to them at all, and to add insult to injury, I had added 30 minutes to my normal ½ marathon time.
I knew it was time to get serious, and my good friend, Ko, invited me to come with her to one of Lindsay's classes. She told me it was a fun class, Lindsay was great, music was good, and it was kind of like Pilates. At that point I was open to try anything, so I went. And Ko was right -- class was fun and Lindsay was great. But Ko was wrong about one thing: This was NO Pilates class; it was Pilates on steroids. After my first class, my body was Jell-O and I decided then and there that The Studio (MDR) was what I needed to do to get back into shape.
My first goal was to lose 10 pounds, which I did easily in 4 weeks. Then, I wanted to get my strength back, with 6 ½ marathons and a triathlon on my schedule for 2012, this was very important. I'm happy to say I achieved that goal as well. My ½ marathon time is back at 2 hours and I am surprised at how strong and lean my body has become. This leads me to my newest goal: If at any point in my life I'm going to get 6-pack abs again, it's going to be NOW. So, 6-pack summer here we come.
What's my motivation? I LOVE the way I feel and look and I have a newfound confidence in my body. I couldn't imagine it any other way now. I hope to continue to get stronger this summer and by the end of the year I want to run a ½ marathon in under 2 hours. With The Studio (MDR) being a HUGE part of my training now, I'm sure I will be able to accomplish that goal.
