I started my journey in 2018, after a rough 4 year relationship with my ex and a year of binge watching, drinking, eating, and non-socializing. I made a pact with my sister and her fiancé to lose weight before their wedding in October. I joined a high intensity interval class, learned how to cook and meal prep, counted calories as precisely as I could, kept myself hydrated throughout the day and developed better sleeping habits. I lost 25.5 pounds by July and kept it off for the rest of the year.
By April of 2019, I injured my left knee and started physical therapy. I was looking for a workout that could supplement my exercises and my roommate mentioned that a new pilates studio opened in our neighborhood. I Googled The Studio (MDR) and was immediately intrigued - and nervous. I signed up for an intro class, an essentials class, a two week package, then several monthly packages. I am so glad I tried The Studio (MDR) and am grateful to be part of the community. I love that (MDR) is just a 15 minute walk from my apartment and I can carve out that time for myself. I look forward to the day when next month's schedule comes out and I can pre-book classes. The workout has also done wonders for my recovery. I learned to appreciate slow movements, embrace all the shaking, and build overall strength. I was discharged from physical therapy at the end of July and I know that this workout definitely contributed to my progress.
As of January 2018, I've lost 49 pounds. I haven't been this size since I was 17. It all feels so new and everyday I'm learning to love my body and its capabilities. I'm excited to see where my fitness journey with The Studio (MDR) takes me!
